@heavyphil

Peter, Yes you are correct about catheter removal one day after Green Light Laser.
It was a total cluster***k because of my insurance. The hospital at which the surgery was to be done was dropping my plan on Good Friday at midnight.
I only wanted my Uro at that time to do the procedure so it was done on Good Friday 6 AM. She and her staff were off for the rest of the weekend so I had to wear the cath for 3 days. Easter really sucked that year!

Also, not so sure about that bicarb soda thing. I know it’s a raging controversy about alkalinizing the body to fight cancer, etc. but the human body’s homeostatic mechanisms usually keep the system at a pH of 7 give or take so will the urine become alkaline if you drink a basic solution? Perhaps, perhaps not.
People are always encouraged to drink cranberry juice to acidify the urine to combat UTIs so maybe there’s something there after all. Couldn’t hurt to try but all my experiences with catheters have given me maybe ONE very slightly burning urination the very first time after removal and that’s it.
