Back pain while sitting, especially in the car
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2016 but didn't really do anything for it besides upping my calcium and exercising. In 2022 I experienced back pain so my doctor ordered an MRI. I had 3 old compression fractures and one new one so I started on Forteo, My doctor took me off after 8 months because my alkaline phosphotase had risen. I switched to Evenity which gave me increasing back pain so I stopped after 11 injections. Then I tried Fosamax but stopped after 2 doses because of horrible GI issues, which I'm still dealing with. I switched doctors and am back on Forteo. My question has to do with sitting, especially in the car. Does anyone else get a lot of pain while sitting? It's hard for me to sit and I can only sit in the car for 30 minutes before my back tightens up. Putting ice on my back while sitting helps, but I can't always do that. Any tips or helpful hints? My fractures are all in my thoracic spine.

PS: had steroid injections in my spine which did no good. I previously tried cbd with thc bought online from a reputable company and I’m going to try those again. They are not cheap and took 2 months before I noticed they had helped. Health insurance doesn’t cover that
Sorry to hear about your back issues. I've had 3 injections so far. The first helped a bit, the second not at all but the third has really helped. It was done using ultrasound to guide the doctor. I'm going to ask him to do it again in a different spot on my back. I was able to get a medical marijuana card and I take a tincture or pill that has thc and cbd in it before bed to help me sleep. My car has heated seats and lumbar support as well. Good luck on your trip.
Good luck with the injections. The doctor I saw, you couldn’t suggest she do it in a different spot. She was strictly going by the mri/ X-rays. And as far as medical marijuana, I don’t think
I’m willing to go that route. The stuff I was taking had no marjuana just cbd & low dose thc.
@mydogsbestfriend , Epsom salt baths, soaking for 20 minutes, helps me.
Can’t put epsom salts in my jacuzzi but it sounds like it may help
I have back pain from scoliosis. No one ever looking over my x-rays over the years told me I had scoliosis.(I'm 83) I recently went to the doctor for a steroid injection after I fell and hurt my back. I asked to see my x-ray. As he was showing me, his assistant walked into the room and he said, "It's okay, she's an RN." I didn't think to ask why no one ever told me and why it was a "secret.".
I got a set of a back cushion and seat cushion off of Amazon for the car and they help me a lot. The normal seats in a car make it start hurting fairly soon.
Could you share the link for the cushions?
@johnbishop I have a failed lumbar back surgery I just ordered a second one of these cushions so I have one in each vehicle I carry mine everywhere I go. I have a different one that’s thinner I use to put in my recliner since I’ve been sleeping in it for 3-1/2 months.
This is the set I bought. Having the upper back cushion also helped me be comfortable on a long drive from Coastal California to Portland Oregon.
I lost it on the train trip home so I'm going to order just a back section as I still have the seat cushion.
