Atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) and family planning

Has anyone been diagnosed with ADH to go on to have a pregnancy with no issues? Meaning no return of ADH or cancer???

I hope you get a response here from someone with this experience. In the meanwhile, if you'd like to share more about yourself, my first question is if you'd been advised against pregnancy or told it is a risk for cancer? Are you are on any drugs or treatment that might be harmful during pregnancy? You might consult with an OB. But it seems like if you get a go-ahead you could consider starting or expanding your family should you want that.

Thank you for responding. My breast surgeon from the lumpectomy said it was ok along with the IVF dr. I'm not on any medication. Just worried that all the hormones will feed any pre/cancerous cells, esp since the meds i could be potentially put on reduce estrogen. Just wondering if by intentionally going through with IVF will increase my chances of cancer.

@chitown, I can understand your concern and you're asking the right questions. I also did an Internet search and found little information. So I asked took your question to one of our breast cancer experts at Mayo Clinic and she confirmed what your breast surgeon and the IVF doctor said. "IVF does not increase risk of cancer for someone diagnosed with ADH."

I wish you all the best with family planning. You might also be interested in the related support group:
