I manage lymphedema in my face and neck with a lymphatic pump machine made by Tactile Medical. It was prescribed by my surgeon after manual massage did not do the job. My insurance paid for it. They have leg massage options. My machine works great. It takes 32 minutes once a day. I sometimes do it twice a day if I need to. Also check to see if your clinic offers lymphatic massage. Some massage, therapists can help.

He suggested it to me and told me how it worked. He said he and his staff would work with my insurance. I think its a prescription and a bit more. I never saw the paperwork. When I told my OT she said there was a protocol to get it paid by insurance. She had not had a doctor prescribe it before. She,was glad he did. So was I.

Maybe call Tactile and ask them for guidance. Good luck to you.

I, too, have a Flexitouch Plus from Tactile Medical. The initial contact was made by my speech pathologist. It was quite expensive (5k plus), it wasnot covered by Medicare, but was by my secondary insurance. If you're insurance company won't cover it, Tactile has a few programs to help with the cost. Just ask them.

It helped tremendously for the lymphedema under my chin, when I used it after my treatment was completed.

Good luck!

I was just cruising Amazon and saw some inexpensive leg air !massage units. There were some under $100! Much cheaper than the machine I have. You may need to ask your PT about it. They are made by a company called Fit King. Look them upon Amazon.
