Had similar issues. I got hand controls for my car. Had to work with state Vic rehab office, but they paid for drivers training on hand controls

Hello and thank you for
bringing up hand controls for driving.
I am considering going for the drivers rehab/test but was told the fee is $500 and insurance won’t cover this.
I have had axonal polyneuropathy for several years that has gradually worsened and I haven’t driven for two years.
This of course is restricting and depending on others to take me everywhere is getting old.
I would be interested in finding out how you were able to get this paid for and have you actually had the hand controls installed? If so, was it difficult to adjust to this way of driving?
I’ve heard mixed reviews.
Thanks for any info you can share!
