Has anyone had success with a prescribed compound lotion for feet?
My doctor has ordered a compound lotion for my feet. I am picking it up today. Anyone else?

Hi Patricia, You might want to look at this discussion started by @jeffrapp to learn what others have shared.

Can you share what the compound ingredients are?
It’s very common. I’ve tried gabapentin with amitriptyline compounded cream for my neuropathy—I didn’t really see much change, but everyone is different. Or maybe it’s baclofen. I can’t remember—I remember it’s common to mix all three but there was one we didn’t want to include.
For me, I think it’s the feeling of having something moisturizing on my feet and limbs that is comforting, not necessarily the effect of the compounded cream. When my symptoms were at their worst years ago (thankfully it calmed down), I used regular lotion (cera-ve), followed by topical peppermint oil before bed. It muted the pain I got at night and the smell was relaxing. Later I switched to topical cbd. I use Fab CBD because they have one with really nice ingredients, very moisturizing and no menthol (I didn’t want the “cooling” sensation to interfere with my trial of whether CBD worked). That also seemed to help but again I don’t know that it’s the CBD or the actual moisturizer.
I’ve seen several people here recommend Life Flo magnesium lotion. At $12.49, it’s a fraction of the cost of compounded creams.
I think it’s worth trying; it’s just there are a lot of other in-between things to try because compounding add up in cost.
All that said lol, I have used gabapentin cream for vulvadynia, and that has seemed to work much more noticeably. So like most things, I guess it depends.
Thank you - this is so helpful. Agree, I was shocked at the cost of compound cream, but will try. If it doesn't work - on to the next "try".
You’re welcome. I know what you mean. It’s worth at least trying. The other things I mentioned; even if it’s a placebo effect, as long as it helps, I’m all for it :-).
Not a topical, but another thing I tried that helped is Graded Motor Imagery (GMI), specifically right/left discrimination using the Recognise app. The annoying thing is you have to pay for each app for each affected body part. I did knee and feet because my neuropathy is worst in my lower body.
My Mayo doctor prescribed a compound of Ketamine for my neurophy. I tried it, didn’t work.
My compound has keto plus lido, gaba, and amid
I will try - if no results - will not continue. I am glad it works for some. I might go back to my peppermint oil Or frankincense.
My doctor prescribed a compound cream with all that stuff in it. It did nothing for me.
Thanks - trying to be optimistic, but will give it a try.
Hi there.
I had neuropathy in my feet from plantar fasciitis. My specialist gave me a compound made of 10% Diclofenac, 6% Gabapentine, 5% lidocaine in tpb
Very , very good!!
Great news for you.
I am applying Diclofenac 1% 4x daily to my ankle. My osteoarthritis can be painful but I also have PT. They work my ankle a lot there. Can't tell which helps more-- the PT or the gel.
Question: Can you use your gel long term?
