Anyone try bioidentical hormones to combat/treat osteoporosis?
I'm giving it some thought. After a bad experience with Alendronate, I'm very hesitant to start with Prolia.

Does anyone know if HRT has been prescribed for anyone who is 80 years old?
My cardiologist has prescribed BhRT for women in their 90’s, so yes, but docs like mine are far and few between.
@sonodeka try DIM! I read on the supplement box it helps breast tenderness caused by HRT! (get one that is 100 - 150 units) My doctor recommended it to breakdown the BHRT properly.
they are now (from the literature I've read) prescribing it for older women than those who are just going thru menopause and now saying you can have breaks, and not have done it at all in your post-menopause years.
Thank you. That is interesting.
Thanks you Loriesco! I'm not familiar with DIM but will look into it.
Four weeks into hrt and this recent tenderness has been a little
concerning. I appreciate the tip!
Here's the one my dr. recommended: https://www.amazon.com/Thorne-Hormone-Advantage-Featuring-Pomegranate/dp/B07RR9JF9B/ref=sr_1_8?crid=21PV6MHUUGCFX&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.1amZ-t3YxxiXZFQGEyOTME0lzOvst3Zg0O4OzqElmSu-gwvi1GcqeMoeqvFqxa8tAyFynL_xF3ZMoiRgKN_rShMYSf5DsIo6Or2-F_gjNr-tR3NsxfSlIpWz_mCxmZlMnz-pyKQnyo1ZyDBJYJGXA5g2h3qlMQvafFq9s1QH3pBWt5i40rm3siLKDe5Nuwc9W2ptbF_bCL6Rj0xhGEXctyunYV5Q0O3HIvJb3Wx-uNTb-z0xrkusu6cfHxomjIEF8pHJXlTM82g9qIm9jFVKfVOwg-bJ3pA0jp8GUVbrouY.29Ok21_2NfXGEWAbh3L5khUY3SAN0rWxvNHJ596o5bU&dib_tag=se&keywords=DIM&qid=1727381851&s=hpc&sprefix=dim+%2Chpc%2C123&sr=1-8
and here's the one I bought locally:

but I do recommend you see if an adjustment with less hormone is attended to as well.
My doctors mother was into her 90s and still doing BHT. 💪🏼
Thanks for the recommendations. Have you noticed a difference between the two? I like that the second one has a smaller dose. I read DIM doesn't sit well with everyone, some people have pretty bad responses to it. That does give me pause.
I put a message out to my prescribing doctor to hear her thoughts and recommendations about tenderness. We'll see. I know she's rather a supplement skeptic, so I'd be on my own. I'll keep reading up, but really appreciate you pointing me in this direction.
I only tried the one (Nature's Way with 100 units) I returned one which had a bunch of other things (like B12) because I inject B12 and I don't need the other stuff. I have IBS and IC so I must be very careful what I ingest.
The DIM with the brocolli thing was advised and the first one advised by my doc.
Again - thing your breast tenderness should be addressed by hormone level adjustments. Took my first doc 9 months. She balanced the hormone/progesterone first, then added the testosterone and we balanced that too. I like the gel because I can control my dose without going back to the doctor.
