My daughter has had the Nissen fundoplication and hiatal hernia repair. She suffered with acid reflex for years then was told the bottom of her Esophagus was mush, and that’s why she needed the surgery. I will get her connected with this group so that she can learn more and maybe share her own experience. Thank you to those who have shared.

I have a 5cm hernia and it causes me heart burn. They did stretch my throat

I too had that surgery. I am 84. My hernia twisted and was an emergency repair. It lasted about 2 years and has now failed. I don't think at my age I am going back for a second surgery. Hope your daughter does well. My surgeon says failures are rare, about 5%, but I wonder.
