Thanks for the info; you really don't get too much time at the doc's office for questions and a lot of questions come up after your appointment! Been doing a lot of "research" (internet) and my biggest concern is that a once a year injection may come with side effects that you can't do anything about; at least on fosamax you just stop taking it. I would rather not have the treatment be worse than the disease (which is silent for me; very shocked when my dexa scores came back); but I don't want to crumble shoveling snow this winter either! I am going to set up an appointment with my endocrinologist for a discussion about side effects and all options out there.

@jozer, for the very reasons you expressed, you might ask about Forteo or Tymlos. They build the best bone the fastest. And, if you have a negative reaction, these medications leave the body quickly-- within 24 hours. So you aren't trapped for year or six months.
Osteoporosis is silent until it starts screaming. The fractures are so painful that many tolerate side effects to make certain that there are no more fractures.
