Asymmetry spanning 5x2.2x3.5

I'm just staring on thus journey, and of coarse scared. I just received my report and I would like someone to interrupt it for me. Calcifications in lower outer outer breast associated with focal asymmetry spanning 5 x 2.2 x 3.5 cm. Approx 1.5 cm anterior to the dominant group. There is a second grouping of calcification with focal spanning 2.7 x 2.1 x 1.5 cm. Together 2 groups span 8 cm in anterior posterior dimension. Calcifications are proximally 2 cm from the nipple base. I'm not sure what all this means. Memorial Sloan does have my reports, I'm waiting for them to get back to me. Thank you for your response.

@christinaink
I understand how scary this is- have been there myself.
It’s great that you will be seen at Memorial Sloan Kettering!
Such a great hospital.
I had my second opinion there with the best breast cancer oncologist- 32 years ago.
It is difficult for anyone who is not specializing in breast cancer to interpret the findings correctly.
Hang in there- you will get great care at MSK!

Calcifications favor a benign diagnosis because they are spanning or spread out instead of clustered. Your report is only describing the location and area-extent of tiny pinpoints of calcium deposion and not the size of a solid tumor.

You may be looking forward to a biopsy.
It's so hard to wait. You could post a message to your physician to find out what will be the next step.
Bless your journey with the best luck.
