The EMU (and Mayo) were game changers for us. We are still paying it off but it was so worth it. Our son had a sudden onset at 17 and was having seizures weekly. When we got him into mayo Phoenix they put him in EMU and took him off all meds; were able to see what med would work for him and when we left 5 days later, he was loaded up on the correct dosage. We had 2 episodes after so they upped his meds a bit and today he is 8 mos and 16 days seizure free and living in a dorm at ASU. We still worry as he has to manage his meds on his own but luckily he is 20 minutes from Mayo and 45 minutes from us.
Good luck! I hope your experience is good as well.

Thank you for the update, @vidya2. I hope all goes well with your daughter’s stay in the epilepsy monitoring unit and they’re able to find the cause of your daughter’s escalating seizures.
I know your little girl was pretty anxious about all of this. How is she doing? Is there an opportunity for a visit with a Caring Canine?
