Massive Hiatal Hernia Repair

Posted by debbieltx @debbieltx, Sep 21 3:46pm

I am looking for helpful tips for after surgery self care. I have a massive hiatal hernia containing the entire stomach and portion of the colon. This was discovered by accident as the only symptoms have been nausea, some difficulty breathing after eating, and inability to eat large meals.

I have the same, only it has pressed against my left lung causing me to have to use oxygen 24/7. Have you already had surgery?

Hello.
I have very similar symptoms. Out of breath often after walking a few feet.
Terrible cramping at times. Have been through every gastric test with no clear diagnosis yet.

Can you elaborate with symptoms. I woukd like to hear about surgery. Hope it went well.
Onward.

Hi - I have very few symptoms. The hernia was discovered when I went to the ER for a kidney stone. They took a CT scan to verify where the stone was stuck. I’ve had the symptoms of nausea and difficulty breathing while walking for quite some time. I attributed the symptoms to long term Covid. The surgery will be on Thursday unless something unexpected occurs.

What surgery are they actually doing ?
Make sure to do all research on it . You said yesterday it was on 8/26 ? So did you have it done ✔️? It’s 9/23/24 .
