Need help understanding CTX.

February 22
342 pg/ml

September 13
80 mcg/L

80 micrograms = 80000000 picograms

What does my CTX mean?

Hi @06111945cc If my calculation is correct, yout Sept 13 ctx reading 80 mcg/L equals 80,000 pg/ml. This is a huge number. Maybe double check to see if the reading is .80 mcg/L, instead of 80 mcg/L?

Lab transcription error would be my best guess.
At 80 pg/ml I'd hazard that you've stopped Forteo and maybe started Reclast.
Is the 342 pg/ml your base number. Are you testing P1NP.
I'm often getting reports in mcg that should be mg.
You could call the lab.
I haven't seen CTX measured in mcg/L.
Are these both serum levels.

1mcg = 1,000,000pg so 80mcg = 80,000,000pg and as mayblin pointed out 80mcg/L = 80,000pg/mL which is impossibly large

If it was a lab transcription error as gently guessed, 0.8mcg/L = 800pg/mL and 0.08mcg/L = 80pg/mL; both of which are more likely figures depending on your situation

I contacted Quest.

After much effort I was contacted to their help online assistant.

Attached is their response!

I think I see the issue. Quest reported for me the units for P1NP in mcg/l . But for CTX, the units are in pg/ml. You might want to check that you are not getting P1NP and CTX mixed up.
