@charlotte12

my platelet count is trending to normal, from 118 to 132 last week,
I have a blood draw tomorrow, then I will see, I finished my
last chemo last week, I'm on my 7th day after chemo, and
the side effects, pain, usually get worse, I needed pain medication
every 6 hours, the pain is less today, no appetite, my taste buds are off, I eat bland noodles, bland cooked potatoes, bland rice, some very ripe pears- thank you for asking me
how I'm doing- it helps a lot to be thought of-

@charlotte12 I go through my list of active members in our Gynecological Cancers Support Group "check up" on them every day. You are in my thoughts and I appreciate that you've keep us informed so we know how we can support you. I'm relieved to know that your platelet count is returning to a normal range. And you completed your last chemo treatment a week ago. Although your taste is off is there anything you like to eat texture-wise during this recovery phase?

one thing i've finally found (weird as it sounds) that has helped with my tastes being off is cold imitation crab meat... early on in chemo i learned i was wanting more seafood (oysters, scallops, clams, etc basically shellfish) which i later realized are high in zinc...but one day at the local grocery store i found some imitation crab meat on a party tray that was marked down and it actually looked appealing to me...so i bought it and omg it tasted so good and "normal"...so its been my go to food after chemo cause it keeps the metallic taste away for up to 30 min after eating a piece so i pick at it all day...
