Anyone try bioidentical hormones to combat/treat osteoporosis?
I'm giving it some thought. After a bad experience with Alendronate, I'm very hesitant to start with Prolia.

I am looking for dosages. I am currently on low dose of Estrogen and progesterone. No improvement.
I think this was meant for @dooshie
How long have you been on HRT? I am on 125 mg of progesterone, 0.5 mg of testosterone cream and 0.025 mg of estradiol patch. I just started in July so I don’t know if there’s been any improvement yet. I sure hope it will assist in the gains I had on Tymlos.
I am on identical hormones, no progesterone. My spine has improved but not my hips, but they remained the same. I am pleased about that. I only started when I was 63, and had never had HRT before even after a total hysterectomy aged 26.
@fluffbun do you mind sharing how long you have been on identical hormones? I’m interested to know how long you have been holding steady / spinal improvement. And have you taken any OP meds, or only identical hormones?
Hello
No I don't mind sharing at all. I have been on them 2 years. I don't take bone meds and never ever would. The identical hormones have been incredible and there is no doubt they have improved my results and kept them steady. To have no loss from one year to another is pretty good. I am reluctant with my exercises although I do walk everyday and try to do simple basic squats, clams and some upper body exercises with s.all weights. I also do take vitamin D and K plus magnesium and try to eat calcium rich foods every day.
Thank you, @fluffbun. This is really encouraging.
Thats wonderful news. That’s a positive report for your spine. I too had a total hysterectomy when I was 38, on HRT for a short time and therin the osteo diagnosis 4 years ago. What amounts are you taking? Have you been in any osteo meds?
Yes I’m taking an oral capsule every night at bedtime. However, I will be seeing a new doc in October, as my cardiologist who prescribed the hormones, passed suddenly. I will be seeing an integrative GYN and because I had a total hysterectomy, I want to know why I’m on progesterone. I understand it also stimulates more bone growth so that’s likely why he wanted me on it.
Hi,
I use an Everol patch 75. I don't take bone meds, I refuse to take them, they are poison. Isn't it dreadful how we were mot warned or protected against osteo after hysterectomy? No body even mentioned the word to me! Honestly, I can't recommend HRT enough, it has been fantastic.
