Is this normal on ADT? Body hair gone
I'm almost on my 6th month of ADT. This morning I noticed that almost all my body hair is gone except for the hair on my head. My underarm hair, pubic hair, and arm and leg hair are all missing. I look like a plucked chicken. Is this normal? Will this hair come back?
I also noticed that I haven't had to shave in almost three weeks.

I was on Lupron for 6 years and Orgovyx for a year. They both affect you the same, their purpose is to reduce your testosterone to as close to zero as they can.
As for brain fog. Can’t remember names frequently, just don’t come to me quickly. Names of people are worst, sometimes drugs or treatments but the facts I am discussing are clear, it’s the names of things or people I may need to look up, if they don’t come back to me quickly. I know what I am looking for however.
After five years of going to weekly advanced prostate cancer online meetings, you find out that it is very common and almost everybody has that problem. Someone will be talking about something and all of a sudden they stop because the fact/name they tried to hit disappeared from memory. Usually to return after a few minutes.
Very frustrating.
No brain fog for me in three years on ADT and ARSI, but definitely hot flushes and fatigue, especially during the first 18–24 months.
I'm not sure about joint pain because I have imperfect sensation (neuropathy) after spinal compression, so I feel some pain that isn't really there, and don't feel some pain that should be.
Scott, Your reaction to the Orgovyx only underscores the fact that we all react differently to the same treatment or drug.
Losing weight on ADT is not common at all, nor are severely shrunken testicles and anorgasmia. But just as these changes have been dramatic while on the drug, there is good reason to believe that they may just as dramatically ( or gradually) reverse once you’re off of it. Your RO is probably as perplexed as you are. How much longer will you be on ADT?
Wow, another side effect of treatment that they don’t tell you about. Fortunately, I only received 3 shots before my radiation and that was back in Feb of 23. I have not experienced hair loss but I’m experiencing hot flashes and my testosterone is still in the low end, it’s coming up but slowly. If it wasn’t for researching things myself, I’d never know. I attended a webinar on hormone therapy from the prostate cancer foundation over a year ago, just after I finished treatment and rang the bell. It was stated that even after ending the shots, it could take 18 mths or more to clear my system. What a ride. I wish you all the best and we are all Brothers, keep up the fight.
18 months left to clear the system = PSA remains low, hopefully
Yes, it’s clearing and I’m feeling much better than before, but the lack of information from the Docs is maddening. And yes, my PSA is low, last test .23. I’m doing well and my docs are happy. My surgeon has changed me to a six month visit to check and my oncologist has handed me off to his Physicians Assistant, who I see later this month.
All the best to my fellow Warriors out there.
Keep in mind ... side effects are listed as "possible side effects". Not all men will experience the same side effects. As an example, hot flashes are listed and the data I've seen indicates 53% will experience this. Personally, my side effects include hot flashes, fatigue, and weight gain. The hot flashes can be rather annoying.
1 1/2 months. I lost another 4 pounds last week. It's getting a bit scary.
This is really weird. The one thing that is known is that drugs like Orgovyx can cause weight gain not weight loss.
I have neither gained nor lost weight since being on Lupron and then Orgovyx, but I have to carefully watch my weight every day and base what I eat on what I weigh.
I hear from a lot of people on weekly advanced prostate cancer meetings I attend complaining about how much weight they have gained, not lost. Give it time you probably will gain it all back.
At one point a couple of years ago (while on Lupron for four years) I lost about 5 pounds and was worried I couldn’t gain it back, that was very short term, gained it all back in a short period.
Being on drugs like Orgovyx can cause you to get belly fat. After seven years I have some, but keeping my weight under control keeps it from getting much of a bearing on my overall weight. That belly fat usually adds weight. Have you noticed that?
Perhaps your RO can just give you the 6 months and be done with it? 7 1/2 months seems like a weird interval - usually done in increments of 6 months.
Also, what do your MD’s say about your weight
loss? Are they concerned? Do blood tests show anything else unusual going on?
Be sure you are getting more protein than you need. muscles can waste away on ADT and all the working out won’t do anything. Possibly low sugar Ensure or Atlas Bars from Amazon might be a good idea.
