DANAGA, Gout is a form of arthritis. It tends to run in families. It is extremely painful. Doctors usually will check your uric acid level to see if it is elevated as this can be a sure diagnosis for the gout.

Foods to Avoid: Pork, Turkey, Hot Dogs, Pepperoni, Orange Juice & Shell fish are known triggers.

Tart Cherry Juice helps. I wish I could tell you that this tastes wonderful...it doesn't!

Allopurinol (Prescription) is usually the drug of choice to prevent gout and is taken on a daily basis. Colchicine (Prescription) is usually given if you have a gout flare. Some doctors will inject cortisone into the gout flared joint to give relief.

I hope this is helpful. I have 2 family members that battle the gout and I can tell it is so painful. Even the sheets on the bed hurt to touch their ankle or knee when they have a flare up.

Praying for you to get much needed relief. Blessings.....
