Is this normal on ADT? Body hair gone

Posted by scottbeammeup @scottbeammeup, Sep 15 7:18am

I'm almost on my 6th month of ADT. This morning I noticed that almost all my body hair is gone except for the hair on my head. My underarm hair, pubic hair, and arm and leg hair are all missing. I look like a plucked chicken. Is this normal? Will this hair come back?

I also noticed that I haven't had to shave in almost three weeks.

I think it is normal, I lost a lot of mine over my two years on ADT. I was lost a lot from my head as well, but, luckily, it seems to be coming back a little.
At my age though, it's tough to tell if some of it isn't normal aging process.....:)

17 month on ADT, no chest hair, no underarm hair, skimpy pubic hair, shave every other day. We are about the same. We have a turtle head for a penis. I m sorry but ADT is in charge.

Indeed, I was on ADT (Eligard) for 12 months. (started it just prior to SBRT radiation x5 treatments) My total testosterone levels were consistently less than 10 while on the Eligard treatment. That’s the main mechanism behind the hair loss, a major decrease of testosterone in your system. I looked like I had gone to a pre- swimming meet party where the whole swim team shaves down before the event. As mentioned previously by another my leg hair, arm hair, chest hair, armpit hair, pubic hair, all almost disappeared completely. Only had to shave every 2 to 3 days…minimal head hair loss. Of note, approximately four months after completion of ADT I restarted low-dose testosterone therapy.(I have a history of testicular cancer(30 years ago) and only have one testicle. As a result of that my endogenous production of T was very low. It took about six months before what I considered to be normal hair growth to return after restarting testosterone. Hang in there, and best of luck in your journey!

Yes, it's normal. Before I was on ADT, I was very much what you might have called a "bear" — now, I have less body hair than when I was 12.

Fortunately, the ADT leaves the hair the top of my head alone, though it's fine and whispy now instead of thick and coarse. I still have to shave my face, but it takes a 2–3 days for the stubble to become obvious, while in the before times I looked like I needed to shave again by 5 pm on the same day.

Thanks. My urologist said there was a good chance testosterone production might not restart and I would have to start being screened for bone loss, heart problems, etc. I asked if I could do supplementation and he said not for at least 2-3 years. That was like a kick in the (shrunken) scrotum.

Have the same problem here, still got my facial hair and head hair but everywhere else is almost gone.

4.5 months on orgovyx an mine is disappearing as well but in patches.
I was also a bit bear-like before and didn't like it that much so would not be so unhappy with the loss, if it would be a bit more regular. Legs look a bit weird in shorts at the gym (but too old to care).
Shaving now twice a week from once a day (hair loss is a plus for me 😉)

Facial hair seems gone too. Haven't shaved in a week and there's just 2-3 whiskers poking through.

Using Orgovyx what does one experience as the most frequent side effects ?

Scott, Food for thought: once you’re off Orgovyx for six months and have a track record of your PSA and testosterone level and I suggest you consider going to a men’s sexual health expert. The one I went to told me that if my PSA remained undetectable six months to a year after stopping ADT we could consider hormone replacement therapy. My main concern is no longer about recovering sexual function, although that’s certainly on the list. My top concerns are reversing bone loss, muscle loss, fatigue, and mild depression.
