Tymlos injection question

Posted by babbsjoy @babbsjoy, Sep 12 8:39am

I am about a month into my Tymlos opportunity. I notice that sometimes (not always) I have a droplet of medicine adhering to the tip of the needle when I remove it from my stomach. I do wait until the count of 30 before removing it….Is this common? I do not want to waste a drop of this stuff! I do stand up to inject, as I feel uncomfortable with idea of doing it laying down—but will try if this is the answer? Thanks!

@babbsjoy do you pinch up, inject, and let go before the injection is finished? If not it is possible you are squeezing some of the medicine out. The only way I know this is because my kid has type 1 diabetes. You could ask a nurse at your MD office to help with this maybe.

Or maybe it's fine! I don't recall a drop at the end of the needle but I could be wrong so hope others chime in.

This happened to me also. Good question.

@windyshores
Thank you! I do the process that you describe…..

I do keep pushing the button as I pull the needle out (just the way I hold it). I’ll try tonight, taking my finger off the button before I pull the needle out and see if that helps!

I used to always have a bubble, the I'd put the bubble in my skin not to waste it. Since I learned on thus website to leave it in to the count of 10, I usually don't have a bubble.

I wanted to share this photo of another very large bubble to appear in my pen as I’m almost finished with this one. Is this happening to anyone else? It is impossible To tap out. I end up losing a dose by squirting into air as you do with a new pen. Thanks everyone!

@esb13

I had a similar bubble towards the end of the last pen I used, which was my first pen. I was able to flick it out, however. I was so thankful that someone in these discussions had mentioned watching for bubbles beyond that first start of the pen! Prior to seeing that comment, I had not been paying any attention…this really is such a great group of helpful and knowledgeable women! And, I don’t feel as alone in all this!

Last month, I completed my 2 year Tymlos routine. I had observecd tiny bubbles of and on in a pen. With a needle attached, holding pen vertically, and tapping on the pen would move bubble to the top and disappear. Hope this works for you.

I did get 30 doses from every pen. CVS Speciality Pharmacy was my supplier.

I've been using Tymlos for seven months. My method is to insert the needle, hold down the button for a count of ten, release the button, then withdraw the needle. If you keep the button pressed when withdrawing, of course you're going to see a drop at the end of the needle.

I occasionally see bubbles, but usually I can tap them out. Note that it's easier to tap them out when the needle is uncovered -- after all, the air bubble needs to escape somehow!

The pen actually has extra doses (35? Just guessing), so if you waste a little, it's no big deal.

@njx58 do you pinch up? And if so when do you release the pinch?

If the full dose that has been created with a certain number of clicks, or the full dose itself, I don't see why continuing to hold the button down would cause a drop of medicine.

I pinch up belly fat, insert needle, and release the pinch as I finish injecting to avoid squeezing medicine out. I did this with insulin as well.
