A great interview with Dr Keith McCormick. I read the transcript while listening to the YouTube interview with Dr Kara Fitzgerald. I found this while searching for connections between Osteoporosis and gut conditions. I do have his book and it's a fabulous resource. This interview and actually any interview he does, for me, helps in my understanding of all things Osteoporosis.

Thanks Windy for your reply. I live alone and just have some real anxiety about starting this drug and possibly having a serious reaction. Conflicting thoughts about whether or not you can deliver a lesser dose is possible? It would appear that it can be.
I
Appreciate your encouraging words! The only advice I had gotten was it might feel like a “Hot flash” for a few minutes.

I live alone. Whenever I am given a new prescription, of a new type of medication, I do not take it until I have someone with me. One time I waited a week until I was at an appointment at a doctor's office and told them I had just taken the first dose. I might add, that people can get allergic to medications that have been safe taking in the past. Both Sulfa drugs and Ibuprofen started giving me hives after taking them for years.

This was a great interview and everyone should watch this.

I flipped on my road bike at age 48 and had multiple fractures to my ribs, collar bone, ocular bone and lower back. I was already living alone and that was awful but I survived. The Tymlos side effects now are so predictable that I am learning to schedule my life around it. I cannot thank you enough for that initial advice of dosing down to start! What a difference it made for me.

LHankins,
May I ask what type of side effects you experience that necessitate needing to adjust and schedule your life? Thanks for sharing. I’m just getting ready to start Tymlos.

I started taking Tymlos at bedtime and that did not work for me because the heart palpitations were unmanageable and kept me from sleeping for several hours. I switched to morning and know that any heart palpitations or dizziness will pass now within about two hours. I don’t schedule early a.m. appointments nor excursions within those two hours (if I can avoid it) and know that I am good for the day. I have the advantage of being retired now so that I manage my time and schedules to my benefit. I hope this is helpful. I think we all need to find what works for us individually since we all have different obligations and lifestyles. I wish you the best, please keep us posted and just take it one step (or day) at a time. I definitely expect it all to be worth it in the end.

May I ask how much you are taking? Is it the full 80mg dose?

I am up to .70, hoping to get to .80 next month. I will be patient though, and stick with the .70mcg until I feel comfortable to move to the maximum dosage.

Thank you again. I’m convinced I should titrate the dosage to begin. So appreciate your response!

@lhankins I mostly stayed at 70 mcg and it was very effective. If I had a free day to stay home and putter around, I would do 80. If I had something really important to do and needed to feel 100% in the morning right after the injection, I would do 60. But mostly, maybe 80%,of my injections were 70 mcg. It is so interesting that I hit a barrier between 70mcg and 80mcg with side effects so much worse at 80 mc- even after more than 18 months. I still had remarkable gains!
