Just so I can understand better--have you had a mastectomy? It sounds like the breast cancer is at a very low stage. I don't think either breast cancer or surgery will trigger HPV, although I'm guessing that something which lowers the immune system might. I'd ask your oncologist about this. As to checking HPV, I think a Pap smear will find it. Have you been having ongoing monitoring? There might be other methods for watching it as well--your gynecologist can advise. Wishing you the best, whatever the situation. I have no medical background, but understand you're being concerned. More information should help with peace of mind.

I had a right breast mastectomy April 2024. I see my Gynecologist every 2 yrs as insurance allows. Hpv test this yr 2025 was negative. I also have thyroid nodules that I've had biopsies & ultrasounds regularly. Had a full knee replacement this yr too. I'm 71 lost hearing in my left ear after vertigo attack, possible nerve damage or tia, dr wasn't sure back in 2010. Now losing hearing in my right ear & have an appt with RWJ in New Brunswick, NJ end of July to see if a candidate for Cochlear Implant. Hearing aid works ok for now, but if I go def in this ear Cochlear may not ever work, I also have constant tinnitus. I have such anxiety & I'm so overwhelmed. I look for answers all the time on the Mayo Clinic site.
Thank you Miriam,
Linda
