Best underwear?
I am having my RP next Monday, and I know I will be catheterized for a little more than a week. I have been planning on using disposable underwear for the next few weeks/months, but what about underwear you can wash? Do any of them have pockets for pads? Do the ones with built-in pads work? Boxers or briefs?
THANKS

You can try Wearever washable underwear.
I used them for a while and my brother really likes these. It’s weareverincontinence. com I think. Hope all goes well with your surgery and maybe you’ll be one of the fortunate people who have a short bout or not much at all incontinence. I had about 2 months but the good news is now I’m completely dry except for occasional stress incontinence and some climacturia issues. I’m at almost 3 years post RP. Psa still non detectable.

5 ReactionsDepends work well... tried a cheaper brand, but they worked poorly. Actually, I use pads more than disposable underwear. Make sure you wear boxer briefs with a slightly snug fit to secure pad.
That's interesting. I went with Depends because they fit.
I went to depend.co.nz & they offer up to 3 free samples.
So I requested 1 medium & 1 large, just to try them out for size. A whole packet of 8 is like 20 bucks.
This way, I could work out which size was more comfortable without buying a whole packet.
But I couldn't find the same offer at depends.com (which I assume is the American site).
That's a shame.
Same with Tena. They offered (but I still haven't received) a couple of free samples to try.
No such offer in America. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

1 ReactionThank you all. I will order some depends pads. I usually wear the "baggy" boxers 🙂 but I do have some boxer briefs that I can use.
Thank you again!

1 ReactionPrior to my surgery, I was told to stock up on pads and underwear. Fortunately, I experienced NO incontinence issues at all! However, at first I wore Depends night defense to bed every night and the first couple of times I went out. They were very comfortable- they felt no different than wearing regular underwear. I agree with James comments. Best wishes! It’s almost a year since my RP and still undetectable PSA!🙏🤞

5 ReactionsCome on.... tell us your secret. How did you get away with NO incontinence?
I've got surgery in a week & not looking forward to the incontinence part.

1 ReactionCongrats on your psa! My surgeon stated I'd be continent 4 months after surgery. It turned out to be 3 months. The exceptions are coughs, sneezes, and farts... So, I still wear a pad 5 months after surgery ( but it tends to stay dry).

1 ReactionI wore the underwear at night with an absorbent pad under my butt. However, I tended to stay dry at night (as many do). In the prone position, the bladder and urethra aren't affected by vertical gravity.
Mine's Monday.
