One month of Orgovyx completed
Just a quick update for those Brothers on, or considering ADT with, Orgovyx.
Today I started the second month of my 6 month sentence. As of today I have had virtually no side effects. I purposely lost 8 pounds prior to going on it, and today the scale says I am down another pound. Just back from the gym and I am doing the same reps, sets and weights that I was doing prior to Orgovyx..
Finished SBRT 5 last Thursday and other than some minor bowel urgency I have no side effects from that either.
If anyone has questions about Orgovyx or SBRT fire away.
I am 68, one 4+3 and one 3+3 core. PSMA PET shows confined to prostate, Decipher was .84. Grade Group 3, intermediate unfavorable.
Stay Strong Brothers!

So is the decision to go on Lupron instead of Orgovyx often primarily an economic one? I was not aware of that to be honest.
Is there any case where Lupron may be the better product?
Likely economics, in some cases, is a factor. The manufacturer does have a financial aid program.
One advantage Lupron has is patient compliance.........one shot and got for 1-3 months vs a daily pill. That advantage also serves as a disadvantage in that the patient has no control over the ADT regime.
Lupron might be the "better" choice for patients who aren't compliant with taking oral meds.
My results after one month of Orgovyx (started second bottle yesterday)....testosterone dropped from 582 to 2.5, PSA...13.4 to 2.8. Other than a few hot flashes, no other noticeable side effects to report thus far. I haven't changed my daily routine at all. Still hike and fish. I may fade a little earlier in the evening, but that's no biggie.
I’m on my third month and other than hot flashes, not much else to report. No weight gain or increased man titties, a little bigger pot belly, no extra weight. No idea about testosterone level as it hasn’t been checked. Goal was to decrease prostate volume so they can do the HIFU. After 5 weeks it went from volume of 44 down to 24 so procedure is scheduled for October.
Hey buddy, I stopped drinking when my PSA started to climb after 5 yrs; it still went up!
Anyway, been on Orgovyx for 5 weeks and some of my liver enzymes are rising. DR not concerned right now but might be if they go up much higher. He asked me if I used alcohol and when I answered NO he said GOOD!
Not sure if they raise the same enzymes but I don’t want to complicate things at this stage.
I guess you should ask your DR just to be sure or drink very moderately and see what your bloodwork shows. Best of luck!
Thanks heavyphil....I have one manhattan in the evening. I'll certainly follow up with chat with radiation/oncologist. It's a new phase of my life at 77. Still wrapping my head around it. best....
That must be a very tiny set of patients, right? Not saying they don't exist just that it would be a rarity.
I would have to hope that were true, especially for cancer patients. Still, there are folks who struggle to take their medications in a timely manner.
The concern is, that when the hot flashes, muscle aches, mental fog, loss of libido ......... et al. ....... become, in the patient's mind, intolerable, he will stop taking the Orgovyx. With a Lupron injection he cannot get off the ride.
