Do you know how real the risk is? I want to have it but concerned over the risk. I foolishly tried to reduce my medication a few years and it put me in the hospital I had another seizure in the hospital and overheard the nurse telling the neurologist that they called in the stroke team.

The goal of the study is to induce and study a seizure while you have all those electrodes on, in a safe controlled environment, with medical staff on hand. Everyone’s risk is different, and you have to weigh the potential cost/benefit. I talked to my neurologist of course but also family before I decided to do it. It’s important you have a clinical team you trust. I resisted the test at first, but after a year of drug-resistant seizures, I figured it was better to do the test than not do it. The seizure I had as part of the study was minor - but enough for them to know where my seizures originate and what type of epilepsy I have.
