Medical grade red light therapy
I have axonal sensorimotor polyneuropathy. Wondering if I can use medical grade red light therapy if I have the markings for multiple myeloma.

Hello @nycksri, Welcome to Connect. I'm not sure if this 2018 article will help with your question but hopefully will provide more information.

Are you looking for something that helps your neuropathy symptoms?
Hi, @nycksri,
Really, only your doctor or physical therapist could likely answer your question but my physical therapist recommended it and she had two strengths of treatment available. The lesser strength was not effective (I have the same condition that you described, first diagnosed in 2021 but having been present as long ago as 2000) but the stronger treatment, which she called "Class IV", did result in gaining back some feeling in my feet and fewer symptoms in my hands. It was a short-lived relief, though, needing to be repeated as often as my insurance would cover it. I have replaced this therapy with BEMER, also recommended by the same physical therapist. This is, for me, a definite improvement. It seems to me, from all that I have read here on Connect, that every person responds differently to everything from pain medications to footwear.
Wishing you the very best with your options and decisions.

Hi @bjk3 ,
Could you please explain the BEMER therapy?
JFN
@jfn Here is the website for BEMER. I first saw this when a horse therapist was using this on horses to increase circulation.

Hello, @jfn ~
Connect mentor Jennifer supplied the most helpful source for explaining the BEMER therapy. The only information I would like to add is that BEMER will not heal peripheral neuropathy, nor restore balance that is associated with it.
I also was diagnosed with severe carpel tunnel syndrome and by using the BEMER "spot" on my wrists, I now have considerably more strength in my hands. Numbness and tingling are still present at times, but I am so glad for the good amount of restoration of hand strength. In addition, it seems to have returned to me a feeling/sense of well-being, assuming I don't over-do in what I think I can accomplish in a day. That is a constant battle!
Hoping this helps a little to answer your question.
