Legs weakness with Idiopathic Feet Neuropathy
After 15 years of debilitating Idiopathic Feet Neuropathy small nerve progression to Large nerve I'm now experiencing extreme Leg weakness both legs. Is this a normal progression. I've had MRI’S and xrays from head to knees. I can only walk 3/4 mile before drop foot keeps my left leg planted on the ground. What can I do for leg weakness.

Sigh...that is a dilemma all its own. For myself, I am absolutely in disbelief how much time/expense/energy self-care has become.
Thank you for your response! - what a lifesaver Connect has become for people like me who wouldn't know anyone else with whom to talk about these things.
Bless you!

Barb - I agree that’s it’s a lot of work. It’s odd that my major self esteem boosts now come from discovering something new that has made tasks simpler, hence making days more enjoyable. I love this group of fighters here that are helping each other pave the way forward and you’ve been a tremendous boost! Meanwhile I still haven’t found s bathing suit that PN hands can easily peel off when wet …,,,
Hi, Leonard (@jakedduck1)
I haven't been able to wear even post-surgery slippers for going on four months because the septic infection left me with (what began as but has now shrunk) a wound in my foot, 8" long, 1" wide, and 3/4" deep. For the longest time, my foot was bandaged the size of a prize-winning pumpkin. Now, the bandaging is down to a third-place-winning avocado.
Cheers!
Ray
Hi, Debbie.
The truth will out. I did try putting my unwounded foot in one of the Slip-Ins, and you're right: I had to use my fingers like a shoehorn. But that's okay. I, too, need the snugness. My problem with anything like slippers is that my heel always pops out, resulting in yet another trip hazard.
So, on we go, hoping not to tumble! 🙂

Sorry you have been through such a time with the sepsis and the recovery back at home, Ray! When we are already having problems walking/balancing, a huge wrapping on one foot has to have been the pits!!!
I may be the odd one here, but I do sometimes walk barefoot inside my home... and find that I can feel the floor better and that helps with balance. Yes, I'm always cautious of where I put my feet, but the cool flooring also feels good. The next best thing for me was finding the Barefoot Shoes (mine are Grand Attack brand) on Amazon. They don't have as thick a sole, so I'm watchful, but they give my toes so much room to spread out. I have bought several pairs of them. One other wide brand I purchased was a pair of Lems... and they, too, give me plenty of toe box room! They have thicker soles than my Barefoot Shoes, and I wear them whenever I have a lot of walking to do. Best to ALL! Mike
I am a long time barefooter I hope to get some diabetic socks to wear. I bought one pair and lost one of them, dang!!!
buy the next size up in slippers
Hi, kforrest (@kforrest)
Mine is a Can't-seem-to have-it-both-ways challenge. My feet, since adolescence, have always presented proper-fit sizing problems: I need both bigness and snugness: bigness to accommodate my whopping big Size 13 uber-wide feet, and snugness to keep the heels of those same whopping big Size 13 feet from popping out of whatever footwear I happen to be auditioning at the time.
Cheers!
Ray
