Side effects leaving after EVENITY.

Posted by bjgrace @bjgrace, Sep 4 7:33am

I am expecting dose 8 of EVENITY. I have had a few side effects mainly joint pain in hips and legs. I am curious to know from others who have finished EVENITY if the side effects disappear over time. I find that the joint pain comes and goes. I am very active and find that the joint pain really interferes with life. Thanks.

I was able to last 8 months on Evenity but stopped due to side effects. Those ended after about a month after the last injections.

Thank you. Do you mind sharing what side effects you had?

Hi @bjgrace,

I finished 12 doses of Evenity at the end of June. I, too, have pain in my left hip that comes and goes, and is ever-changing in intensity, location, and duration. The professional opinion is that the pain is caused by trochanteric bursitis and sciatica. No reason has been proffered as to why the bursitis kicked up recently, but the sciatica has been attributed to my compression frax and can be quite painful at times. I visit a chiropractor monthly to have things s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out and aligned which seems to provide some relief. Perhaps your pains can be attributed to frax (if you've had those buggers). None of my docs have ever mentioned a connection between OP meds and either of these conditions.

I am all too familiar with this type of pain and the effect it can have on our daily comings and goings. I hope you find something that can offer you relief. Cheers!

I was on Tymlos for 2-years and at about my 18th month I started getting ankle pain. Went to my rheumatologist who sent me for an MRI to rule out anything serious. Came back with a narrowing at the joints, however about 2 weeks after completing my Tymlos protocol, the pain completely stopped. I have seen several posts from women that have had similar pain on both Tymlos and Evenity. I am supposed to begin Evenity in October and the thought of ankle or any pain really bothers me. Now that I’ve been pain free for a couple months, I’m so hesitant to begin another drug. But, a fracture would be worse.

Completed year of Evenity in January 2024 and symptoms are gone: hip soreness, foot pain, cramps, arm pains. Now awaiting second shot of Prolia and debating whether to continue or try naturopath approach. Any suggestions?

Thank you. So good to hear that the side effects go away. My endo wants me to go with the annual infusion of Reclast.
I continue to take calcium thru diet and take vitamin D3, K and magnesium. Also exercise daily and have increased the resistance training. I am hoping the dexa scan that I will have in a few months shows a sizable increase.

Could you share what gains you had on Evenity? I just had my 7th Evenity shots. I have a lot of neck stiffness. I am determined to finish the twelve months!

I finished my year of Evenity and have had my 1st injection of Prolia . I will only do a total of 3 of Prolia then move on to reclast . You must do something after the Prolia or you could have the rebound effect. I listen to advice from McCormick and my endocrinologist is on board . Listen to this link you may find it helpful.

Be very careful going off prolia. I’m just finished with my 12 month of Evenity. I’m going to go the holistic way now. Weights, exercises, and food.

Thanks. I see my doc in a few weeks and will run this by him.
