Small Fiber Neuropathy and Vitamin Deficiency

Posted by kfrenc04 @kfrenc04, Aug 22 6:44am

What vitamins should I be taking? I have tremors all over my body. Almost like Parkinson’s disease. Is this a vitamin deficiency or part of my disease? Also,, itch all over my body all the time. Worst towards end of day. Doctors don’t know anything about my disease. No help there.
Thank you

So are you saying that the IVIG treatments are helping your nerve pain symptoms?

Here's the odd thing- I do not have typical nerve pain. Just loss of balance. Made it very hard to diagnose. The pain I have now is a "moving the muscle" type pain, not pain for no reason or pain at touching. I suspect (and I suspect dr. thinks this, too) that I have a neuromuscular degenerative condition, not autoimmune per se. So not sure my experience is helpful. If your pain is from an autoimmune condition, IvIg will probably help.

This may be a shot in the dark but have you had your vitamin B6 levels checked? I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy about 1 year ago and was not only having tingling/burning in feet and lower legs but also tremors all over (especially noticeable when laying in bed). Fortunately for me, my neurologist tested my vitamin B6 and it was too high. The doctor recommended that I stopped taking all vitamins containing B6 which was only about 25 mg total but it accumulates in some of us with the MTHFR gene mutation. It took about 3 months but I got back to normal with no tremors and no more peripheral neuropathy.

Maybe vitamin B1 plus magnesium, and R-alpha lipoic acid can help

My situation sounds just like yours. Started with drop foot & balance problems, no pain but now shoulder pain. Can’t lift it up without pain, like a stinger in foot ball.
What are you doing to combat this.

I am doing a lot of things which aren't really helping. My hopes are on a neuromuscular specialist apt I have. Do you have a rheumatologist?
