The shedding begins: Managing hair loss

I had a knot in my hair this morning. That not something my hair is inclined to do. I gently worked on it and strands of hair came loose. The shedding began.

I made the decision to take a page out of Princess Catherine playbook and call my chemotherapy preventative. I'm resigned that chemotherapy is the only curitive treatment option for me. I've read how to prepare for chemotherapy, I have a game plan and although I was just diagnosed with cancer I'm in excellent health. So I will weather well through this therapy. The worst part of this for me is loosing my hair. That's only because it makes my treatment for cancer so public. I don't what to go public about my diagnosis. I've got great wigs and I have already worn them just to get use to them. I like them.

I have one therapy session down and 5 to go. I'm almost there!

I like your attitude about your wigs. I scheduled a second opinion appointment with a oncologist who has done research on immune therapy for cancer. So we'll get to the bottom of this. I'm just starting my journey. I've only known about cancer maybe 9 weeks. I've had surgery and one infusion. My second one will be on Monday. It's early in the game.

So it's been weeks since this post and most of my hair is gone, but my wigs are awesome. I love them. I may always wear wigs in the future. I have fooled everyone. No one has been able to tell I'm wearing a wig. I have 3 and a halo and a new one will arrive on Monday. I'm addicted to buying cute wigs. Here is a sample of the goods

You’re right! Love that hair! Unbelievable! You must have found an awesome company. This is good to know. Did someone help you with the selections?

Yes I made an appointment with a wig shop and invited my hair dresser/friend and my sister to come with me. I purchased really nice wigs.

That is the key. I like the colors too. Very natural and becoming.

What brand are your wigs Are they synthetic or real hair? They look great! I've gone through four wigs, some good, some no so good. BTW, your will start to regrow quite soon after your last chemo treatment. My hair is about 2" long after 6 months.

I don't know the brands. One is h human the other is synthetic human blend.

That’s good to know. I was looking into some toppers at one time. The quality is obvious or I say not obvious, because it looks like authentic hair.
