This one grabbed me recently: "So Much" by Peter Gabriel

The body stiffens, tires and aches
In its wrinkled, blotchy skin
With each decade, more camouflage
For the wild eyed child within

Now close your eyes for a moment
Look down and look above
All the warmth inside of you
Comes from those you love

Oh, there's so much to live for
So much left to give
This edition is limited
There's only so much can be done

So much to aim for
Shooting up at the sun
When it all comes and goes
There's only so much can be done

Interesting topic! Thank you! I think Merle Haggard's lines in "Are the good times really over for good?" are great when he states, "Why doesn't a Ford and a Chevy last 10 years like they should?" And in the same song, "When a joint was a bad place to be." Also, "Before microwave ovens when a woman could still cook and still would." Also, "When a man could still work and still would." The song was popular in the 1960's but it fits today's world perfectly! Where did we go so wrong?

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
And how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

Some people say a man is made outta mud
A poor man's made outta muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and skin and bones
A mind that's a-weak and a back that's strong

You load 16 tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
St. Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

Yesterday (by The Beatles)

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be.
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why she had to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

"The Lake hills turn the color of a foxes coat" is the first line of a Warren Nelson song about fall coming to the Lake Superior Wisconsin towns of Bayfield, Washburn and Ashland. We are heading there this Friday to celebrate being cancer free on the anniversary of my diagnosis last year.
