Evenity versus Tymlos choice
Hello!
I am trying to decide between Evenity and Tymlos to build bones. I was on Actonel (bisphosphonate) for about 4.5 years but stopped when I had a stress fracture in the foot that was slow to heal and my doctor connected this to being on Actonel.
On Actonel, my T scores did not improve, but they did not worsen (-3 to -3.3).
Now, I need to go on a bone-building drug. The osteosarcomas in lab mice concern me about Tymlos. My doctor says, "Good thing you are not a lab mouse!" But Evenity also has heart attack risks.
Based on your experience and research, could anyone comment on the choice of Evenity v. Tymlos? Thank you!

@elaussies,
most of the trials ressults are 18 or 24 months. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9626192/
In general a person can lose density in the hip. There is controversy over whether this density loss is compensated by strength a quality not measured by dexa. The greatest gains are seen in the spine and no gains in the wrist. I remember a trial where they measured at 12 months. I'll see if I can find the link to send you, hoping that another mayo member has it handy.

hi, my own numbers are a little slow. I may not be taking enough calcium. After 15months bmd was -2.8 up from 3.3 in the spine -3.0 down from -2.9 femur and no change in the total hip. I'll take Forteo for 3 years at least.
You might decide to talerate a little dizziness and it might go away. Depression is a different matter. It can be caused by high calcium levels. Best to tell your provider. if it persists their may be a better medication for you.
I hope it works for you.
