Is there an RX ( can’t be an NSAID) that will not make a person loopy?
My husband has had several failed back surgeries and is in chronic pain every day. He Has a Nevro implant and has had ablation surgery
I am urging him to find a strong medication that will give him relief from pain
He won’t because he says he doesn’t want to be loopy.
Is there any medicine you’ve taken that is strong but left you feeling awake and like yourself without the pain?

I agree. Do your research. I looked at six different companies before I decided. And it just happened that the one that decided upon was the very stimulator my specialist recommended. And you may want to consider calling a representative from the companies and explain what is going on in order to obtain a recommendation as to whether a scs r paddles would help him.
Subutex or buprenorphine which is an opioid but does not dull your senses. Well I speak for myself.
Started in a inpatient trial at Columbia in 2008 so my dose has gone up but it still is effective.
Good luck

Gabapentin for nerve pains. Cyclobenzaprine for serious muscle cramping. Lidocaine patches (they can be cut to fit elbows etc too). Steroids, either oral or injections. The injected steroids do not affect the stomach and internal organs like taking them orally does.
Tramadol is also an opioid but it's low dose and lots of people think it still leaves them thinking fine.
I think tramadol is very good, more intense pain thru only a pain Dr will perscribe, buenorphine. Very low dose like 150 mcg, will or at least with me, does not cause loopyness. Only 1 dose less than that is made
Someone mentioned buprenorphine for chronic pain relief.

Tramadol is not very strong. It I’ve taken the same dose for 3years without bad effects on very bad day I add Tylenol
