Yes, many years ago, before Mucinex, my ENT had me use NAC, but it was a powder and hard to manage. When time-released Mucinex became available, I was happy to switch. For the past several years I have used both, and find the combination helpful. The NAC also seems to help tame my fibromyalgia

Sue- I won't repeat what I said to myself after reading: "The NAC also seems to help tame my fibromyalgia." The body is just remarkable in terms of the health problems we have and yet it allows us to keep living our lives. Did you ever have a bout with systemic Candida after antibiotic treatment? I had systemic Candida after my 24/7 IV treatment of antibiotics while in the hospital for Legionella and Mycoplasma Pneumonias (both at the same time) in the mid 80's. Thank goodness the Candida was eliminated. However, we thought I was having symptoms of fibromyalgia during the time of fighting off the Candida. Don't have any of the symptoms now.
QUESTION: Regarding mucus....should we always expect to have mucus after we eat and have to huff cough afterwards to help ourselves to clear it out?
I can't tell if my needing to clear my thoat of the sticky substance after eating is due to the hiatal hernia causing overproduction of mucus or if the mucus is the cause of the BE. Of course it could be both???
