Anyone ever had face and limb sensory symptoms?
I have a confirmed dx'd of CIDP (neuromuscular disorder) for about 8 years. It affects my large motor nerves. I've never had sensory symptoms until the last couple months. What's most alarming about it is that it's affecting my face primarily while sleeping. I've had my ear "fall to sleep" and last night work up with my arms and lips with pins and needles. It affects my legs and arms and face. I just happened to have my annual appt with the neurologist today. This guy is so stoic that you never get a rise out of him. He didn't make any type of comments on what could cause it. Just said let's do the nerve conduction studies and do a brain MRI. So now I'm curious if anyone else has had this type of thing. I've had a big unintentional weight loss from malabsorption so I thought maybe that could be a cause, but nothing shows up on Pubmed or the like. Appreciate any feedback.

sb4ca,
I have all sorts of neuropathy, pins and needles, just about everywhere. But not my ear, that is a new one. My former neurologist ( I had to leave the HMO, cuz I turned 65) only treated my migraines. Other than that, " your issues are not neurological, they are more related to your depression ". He almost became the first doctor that I actually physically hit. My face got so red and hot, which he said " see how you are feeling now, that is hormonal or mental ". Do you have any vibrations? Suddenly 2 yrs ago it started in my feet, gradually moving around my body. It is bizarre, I swear the floor is vibrating, like if you were to stand on your clothes dryer while it is on. I have done tons of research and have found nothing. Well, except one person said it was the "energies in my body that wanted to get out ". That one made me lol How were you diagnosed with CIDP? I have done reading about it before, cuz I have so many of the symptoms or similarities. But, I couldn't get the old Neuro to even listen to me. Thanx, ShelleyW
I have had vsrying degrees of pins and needles. Working with a neurologist can be challenging. Fortunately, my second one is really helping me. My other issues included smell/taste abnormalities.
Have you talked to your primary about your weight loss?
I have read about people who have the buzzing or vibrations you describe.
I hope you can find some answers. It can be very frustrating.
I have experienced both the pins and needles and also the vibrations throughout my body. Here are two suggestions I have based on my experience.. Look into fibromyalgia and also functional neurological disorder.
katcollins,
What functional neurological disorder? ShelleyW
I had 2 fairly dramatic neurological conditions and that caused my neurologist to test me for CIDP One test was nerve conduction studies that showed demyelination primarily affecting my large motor nerves
I have no vibrations or buzzing They are narrowing in on the cause of my weight loss My primary is well aware of it I had a big work up for cancer and thankfully that’s not the cause Thanks for replying
Thank you Ive already been diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder that my neurologist is treating Historically that has affected my motor nerves and I’ve never had sensory symptoms until now Having them on my face seems atypical so was looking for others experience with that I thank you for your suggestions He’s ordered a brain MRI but I’m not expecting that to be abnormal because I had one in the last couple years that was normal Usually these things show on nerve conduction studies but that would never include your face
It is a neurological condition that can affect movement, freezing or shaking, sensations like pins and needles or numbness, seizures, and pain. Obviously there is more to it, and I am not a doctor this is just from my experience.
katcollins,
What type of dr. did you see for this disorder? ShelleyW
Can I ask about the shaking? I’ve had bouts of weakness with a completely trembly body getting my middle trembles. Muscles are weak??? Is that how it is for you?
