Evenity treatment while living in 2 States.

I am sure you are not alone. There are lots of snowbirds out there. @vtstronghc started a similar discussion and may have some suggestions to offer. Here's the other discussion:

I had to have only 1 treatment (normal 2 monthly injections) done at another infusion center while out of state. In my case, I go to an infusion center that had clinics in other states. My local infusion center arranged for my medication info and my account info to be transferred to the out of state center I selected. I did contact my Dr's office first and though they were not all that helpful, they told me to contact my local infusion center. The new infusion center contacted me several weeks later to ask a few questions and confirm an appt. They did have to get approval from my insurance. If you feel you will need to have 2 centers for your injections on a yearly basis then I would try to find a center that is part of the same group, or switch to make that work. Or maybe your prescribing Dr's office can help sort this out. I know it's a common issue and there has to be a way to do it without any hiccups.

Thank you for sharing your successful experience @255anny. It gives me hope. I have been managing fine by postponing Evenity injections but I fear the day will come. Since retiring I have been doing more hiking and although I periodically fall I have not incurred any broken bones. I have a Dexa in a few months and will see if my increased exercise, targeting specifically bone strength, has actually helped. Knowing that someone has had success getting injections while traveling, gives me incentive to pursue this path when/if necessary. Thanks again.

My husband and I travel quite a bit between two homes 6 hours apart and also internationally. I finished 2-years of Tymlos in mid-June and had good gains but my rheumatologist wants me on Evenity. I’m not sure how this will work. I won’t go on Prolia or a bisphosphonate but not sure how I will manage taking Evenity and my travels. Wish I could remain on Tymlos because even with daily injections, it was much easier than having to go into my docs office once a month for the injections. I could go in for my first injection before we leave for Europe, but I’m concerned about possible side effects and would rather wait until October. Always decisions to make on this journey.

Besides posting on Mayo Clinic Connect, I also contacted my Mayo Clinic Endocrinology nurse. She sent me the below link to find Evenity infusion centers with some additional advice.

When visiting these sites, please be aware of a few things:
~ They do not consider your insurance. We encourage you to contact your insurance company to ask if your medication is covered at the location you identify on those websites.

~ These locations are not always fully comprehensive of your area since infusion centers need to register to be listed on the website. Additionally, it's best to speak with the infusion therapy center to ensure that they accept out-of-network and/or out-of-state orders. "
