What comes after Evenity?

Posted by laurensb @laurensb, Dec 1, 2023

I have been been on Fosamax for 6 years total starting in 2009 with various drug holidays during the years. I was on Raloxifene for 3 years. Started Evenity in June. What are people taking after the year of Evenity is up?

None. You do have to sit or stand for 30 min. before eating when you take it and take it with water. I have it once a week.

Had you taken a bisphosphonate prior to evenity?

Yes but there was a break for a couple years. I opted to go back on that given my choices as I know how it works and had no trouble with it.

@lulubelle029 there are potential side effects for every medication but people seem to do pretty well in regard to side effects with Evenity- but certainly not everyone and I had some neuro side effects that I am prone to anyway. Many of us tend to feel a little different around days 8-12 when it peaks but nothing to be too scared of in my experience. Others can chime in.

lulubelle,
There seem to be a wide range of side effects to Evenity. I did not have any in the 12 months that I was on it - except the first injections in month 1. The day after, I had mild flu-like symptoms. Only lasted one day.
I would definitely wait until after your trip as you want to be at home just in case.

I was on Evenity for a year. The only side effect I had was pain at the site of the injection.
After I finished the treatment, my bone density scan showed improvement. I am glad I listened to my doctor.

I personally didn’t have any side effects the entire 12 months I was on it. My only complaint would be the shots hurt, but that is only for a short time.
Smart idea to wait until you’re home to start. Just in case! Enjoy your vacation.

I have heart issues so I checked it with my cardiologist first. With her ok, I felt confident. I didn’t have any additional issues. If you have a cardiologist you might want to clear it with them just to be safe. I also didn’t have any jaw issues. I honestly had no side effects that I could tell.
There was improvement in my DXA scan too. I hope this helps you. Keep in mind that we are all different. Good luck to you.
