I had concurrent chemoradiation in 2010 for stage 4. You are having the most aggressive treatment available. There's a synergistic effect in the way the treatments work together in patients strong enough to handle it. Think 1+1=3.
Thanks for asking this. Husband had lobectomy, 4 chemos, and 6 immunotherapies thus far. Now PetScan shows a new lung mass. TBD if he will get more chemo and/or radiation. Pls keep us posted.
@tomm1951, yes. I was diagnosed with Stage 2b and had chemo and radiation at the same time after my upper right lobectomy because of the synergistic effect. According to Johns Hopkins, combining the two is typical for Stage 3 when surgery is impossible.
I had the treatments done at Mayo Jacksonville. I am 66. I have had 16 of 26 Imfimzi immunotherapy treatments.
This is, as far as I know, the only curative treatment plan for nonresectable Stage 3 regional NSCLC. I previously got a 2nd opinion at MD Andersen in Houston that confirmed this treatment.
So far I have not had many side effects at all. I am relatively active - golf, light weights, walking, etc.
I believe this course of treatment was the right one for me. I will be scanned frequently when the treatment is complete
Yes it gives me hope I have I am just getting started have had my first two radiation treatments and I chemo session have 28 more then 5 sessions of Higher does radiation total 35 plus 5 chemo treatments . I am 73 and have other mordbities that makes this a bit challengingly but I know I am in the right place thanks for your sharing helps a lot

I assume you did this at Rochester Mayo… may I ask how your feeling and to ask was it worth it and finally may I ask your age
