Is Evenity next?

@nguttman

I have been on Prolia for almost 3 years and my bone density is not improving. My doctor wants me to take Tymlos/Forteo or Evenity. But given this discussion about Evenity's side effects, I am hesitant.

I have just watched a video of Dr. Ben Lerner, an endocrinologist at Harvard, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pV5maUhAjOA
About 28 minutes in, he shows studies have shown (2015) that going from Tymlos to Prolia resulted in good outcomes BUT going the other way produced very bad outcomes. He actually says that if a doctor suggests putting you on Tymlos AFTER Prolia, say no.
So I'm concerned that my doctor isn't aware of this.
I am also concerned about the costs of Evenity -- I'm only 64 years old, so not on Medicare--and with the side effects.
In addition, what happens after the year of Evenity?

@nguttman Hi, there are many on here more capable of answering your comment than I, but I will try my best to help.

I believe what Dr Leder was referring to is if you've never been on any therapy for OP it is best to start with the group of anabolics recommended. It's not at all "bad" to have been in your situation, but what may happen is the anabolics have proven to be less effective. Having not had gains will there be a rebound or risk of fracture, very possible, so I do think your Dr is on the right path.

Some of us have no reactions to the OP drugs and some do, you won't know unless you try. I've had 1 evenity without any noticeable unpleasant reactions.

Wishing you the best.
