Just before PMR I had severe heartburn/reflux every night for over 6mths and had to sleep with 2 or 3 pillows. I switched to a low carbohydrate diet with no snacking between meals and strictly no food after 7pm, and the night-time reflux stopped immediately. I suspect the burning reflux was caused by the carbohydrates feeding a yeast overgrowth like candida in my stomach and colon. I eat dairy, meat, salads and vegetables with no return of the problem. So for me the problem was fixed by removing most sugars/carbs and processed foods and not eating after the evening meal.
Now that we take prednisone, we have to be sure to have something to eat before taking it so as not to damage the stomach/colon lining. Do you do that?

I do take my prednisone with breakfast in the morning. I don’t have much sugary food at all, but I think I could replace a significant amount of carbs with better, healthier choices.

I suffered with reflux for years due to hiatus hernia and gut microbiome inbalance. The anti-inflammatory diet and no eating after 5pm fixed my problem. I used to have to take Nexium at least 3 nights per week, haven't touched it for the last 12 months !!
