Tarlov cyst: What is better to relieve pain ice or heat?
Hi there! Just wanted to ask fellow tarlov cyst members if your back/tail bone area gets worse after a heated session? (eg. Hot bath, sauna?)
Is it better to ice the area instead? Do let me know what works for you to relieve the pain. Thank you!

I have been prescribed gabapentin, but am hesitant to take it. What are the side effects that anyone has had from this medication? My family has advised against taking it. I have been diagnosed with Tarlov cysts at the S2 Level that are causing pain. Ice has been my go to for pain as I have one kidney and kidney failure. My general practitioner has said gabapentin will not affect my kidney.
Hi Pink,
I have multiple Tarlov cyst in the sacrament area and I just started gabapentin 100 mg about a month ago. I was afraid to follow the doctors instructions of increasing to from one 100 mg pill and then on the second week two and on the third week three so I’m just I have just now been on 300 mg for about a week, I have no side effects at this point at first I dreamt more . But that has gone away, and I have relief in my feet side of my leg on the left and it took up to the third pill to start helping my tarlov cysts. I was going to ask for a fourth pill when I see my pain management person. However, I’ve just recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis and gabapentin does affect the bones so I’m gonna hold off on three because I do have some relief in that area. Wish you the best.
