Rectal Probiotics
I have 3/4 of my stomach removed due to an ulcer and then got Dumping Syndrome--then had my gall bladder removed and wound up with Malabsorption Syndrome--lost 35-40 lbs. Put back about 8 but after I eat I have nausea for about an hour after at least two meals. My bro suggested rectal probiotics, which seemed to help a lot with the nausea and I put on 2 pounds but I now have a burning in my stomach after 2 days (I do 2 days on--1 day off) and nausea after lunch. I am wondering if anyone else has had issues with these and how they handled it. Also wondering if I can use just half the capsule every other day if that would work and not cause upset/burning stomach. Hoping to hear from others but sorry if you have the same issues. thanks.

What probiotic are you using now?
I am so confused, how does the doctor know what you need, with no tests. I have malabsorption issues from late life diagnosis of celiac disease. So, what I don't understand is how you lose weight and I gained weight. ShelleyW
I went to the specialist endo guy thinking it was the thyroid issue (I was misdiagnosed by a nitwit and by the time it was figured out--it was too late to reverse) and it telling him about both abdominal surgeries and losing 8 lbs in 3 days for no reason (3 times) he nailed it and said to see a gastroenterologist, which I did--I told him my symptoms and it was determined that it was most likely malabsorption (I get bloodwork done 2-3 times a year and the doctors have access to the results) which were pretty much all normal except for the thyroid thing--so he said to try the Creon--and I did put on 7-8 pounds and maintain that. I don't know what tests they do--but I was never told I needed them. I have read (online) that having abdominal surgeries sometimes do result in malabsorption.
moudsie80,
Yep, all surgeries leave scar tissue and the scar tissue can adhere to, grow into areas it's not supposed to be in. Like, intestinal tract, and can kind of form web like features that make food or poop more difficult to get through. ShelleyW
Yes, on one hand--when my gall bladder had to be removed--they couldn't do it via laser but had to do it the "old fashioned" way due to adhesions but with 2 surgeries the food and poop went right through me due to the dumping syndrome with the first one and then malabsorption with the second so food was going through faster and I wasn't getting any calories. Now with the suppositories I haven't been nauseous after each meal like I was and have put on a few pounds -- I should do them every day--but found I need to ease into it--so it's two days on and one day off or I get heartburn. Always something!
moudsie80,
Yes take it slow and let your body relax and realize you have made progress in getting better.

Yes, this time was better than last week.
