Approaching Knee Surgeries
I am an 83 year female and am having two knee replacements- one end of Sept and if goes ok - the other end of October.
I have had 2 hip replacements several years ago but know that knees are more difficult recovery wise.
I am apprehensive because of my age but my mobility is going downhill.
I am healthy except for heart arrhythmias which are controlled for the most part with medication.
Any advice or thoughts much appreciated.

Dear @spinner2
I intend to ask many questions - have yet to get into the details of the procedure and possible negative outcomes.
I appreciate your reply as it helps me to be more aware of the risks.
Am very sorry you landed in the 15%.
Thanks again and all best,
Dalewhit
Prayers for a good outcome.
I am 65 and have an appt for knee replacement surgery, but my ekg came back saying I have had a prior heart attack or something is wrong. Now I have to have a stress test and cannot find a cardiologist that can do this for 2 months. My primary care doctor said it’s possible that I may have to cancel until heart is addressed. Then I found out that ekg results are wrong 25% of the time and 40% misleading. Now I am walking around in fear of a major heart episode happening before I can be seen for a stress test
Anybody out there have knowledge about any of this
Hi kcat,
That is where I am too. I have made an appointment for a CIMT test which I am hoping will provide some additional information to my doctors so that a heart healthy plan can be made for me to give me some peace of mind in regards to my heart. Here is Mayo Clinic information about the CIMT test:

Hi Kcat,
Have you had your stress test? I am still waiting for approval from my cardiologist to have knee replacement surgery on my right knee. While I am waiting I have been doing Physical Therapy and riding a bike. Both have helped reduce the pain in my knee, and I am grateful for that.
I hope you are doing well and will have an answer soon for your surgery.
Same thing happened to me. My primary care Dr. had an employee hook up the leads wrong... said I had an old anterior infarct. My surgeon's team wanted an entire cardiac workup. I knew that meant extensive testing, $$$ (I have a high deductible). I told them I wasn't going to pursue an elective surgery...
Guess what, they said I didn't need to follow through with a cardiologist.
