Tymlos injection sites
I was told to only inject tymlos on my stomach. But I'm very small and have limited room on my stomach. I'm able to get 4 sites only for injections. It feels as if I'm always injecting in the same place. Anyone else have this problem, and if so what have you done about it? Thanks!

Yes, I am also very small and feel like I have an area of maybe an old 45 rpm single to inject in over the years. I will be following this thread. Thank you for asking the question!
Thank you, @hankins. I called the pharmacist at the specialty pharmacy to check and was told only to inject in the belly! Also, the nurse said I could do it above the navel, but the pharmacist said to stay below, left or right of the navel and only below the waist. So thank you for your response - I'm glad you told me and that I checked!
@mint. Thank you for validating what my understanding was as well. The pharmacist and the developer stated the same thing. Good luck with your treatment!
@maradeur. You may want to get the micro needles. When I told the pharmacist how small I was he send me the BD Ultra-Fine Mini Pen Needles (5mm x 31G). I have no bruises and I take aspirin. These may help.
Lilly states that Forteo can be injected into abdomen or thigh.

Of course now that I am looking for it again, I can not find the drawing showing possible injection sites,
The studies for Tymlos were done in the belly and with a certain needle (bigger one if you ask me). My specialty pharmacy explained they had to adhere to the study components. They wouldn't even give me a smaller needle. I do think absorption might be better in tummy so that is what I did. Curious why folks want a different site!
I have this problem too! I have scars and stretch marks, not a lot of belly fat to grab and I am very limited on sites. I spoke to support from Tymlos today and she stressed staying 2 inches away from belly button. Tonight I think I accidentally hit a vein. The site bled a lot after the injection and it hurts down into my pelvis.
I have a lot of stretch marks as well (though I do have some belly fat) - I did ask my Dr and she said I could do my upper leg. I have not been quite brave enough yet to try it and still keep trying to find spots around my stomach to get needle in.
@karenw9 @lhankins @mint @normahorn@windyshores I don't understand - the TYMLOS LITERATURE tells you, you can inject in six places: thighs, belly, and underarms. Read the accompanying literature with the pen! I've used them all. They work just fine. Use the published literature and refer it to your pharmacy or doctor. https://www.tymlos.com/taking-tymlos/?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1 I would not rely on a pharmacist because they are thinking of it as blood thinning med - maybe the OTHER injectables limit you; maybe your doctor is not a specialist and also uninformed? I went to the micro fine needles. Indeed NOT recommended - why? because if you aren't careful, you can crimp the needle putting it on the pen cap. A pharmacy can't override the doctor's orders. So if they give you resistance, contact your doctor. I use the 32mm x 5 micro fine. I am careful when I twist it on the pen. We've had this conversation last summer, about some of us getting fat tummies (so it was deciding not to inject in bellies) and just doing it in thighs. Which is fine. I wanted to go for rotation so I went to upper arms too.
@loriesco, I didn't see anything in the Tymlos literature or at the link you provided about injecting at 6 sites. The instructions I saw say explicitly: "Step 14. Injections should be given in the lower stomach area (abdomen). Avoid the 2-inch area around your belly button (navel)."
Also, I recently heard a talk by Dr. Nancy Lane who does research on PTH treatments (Tymlos, Forteo, etc.) and she said that she recommends injecting in the abdomen because it is absorbed better. I was also told by the Tymlos pharmacist to inject only in the abdomen because that's what was done in the research, so they can't recommend anything different. The nurse who first showed me how to inject said I could inject in the thigh and upper arm, but I don't think she was very familiar with the Tymlos research, so I prefer to rely on the other sources.
