Hi David,
What a journey with back pain, bowel obstruction, intussusception, disc bulge, and more. Here's some info about intussusception from the Mayo Clinic http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/intussusception/symptoms-causes/dxc-20166963 I'm also tagging fellow Connect members @winning @wesbig @dogmamat @twokitties @sandytoes14 @bekie who have experience with back pain, and may be able to provide some thoughts and insights.

David have you seen a gastroenterologist or been to a pain clinic?

Hi David @connecticuthuskyfan ,
I just read up on intussusception. I am a gastric bypass patient and know a few people who have had bowel obstruction which was cleared with surgery. A diet high in fiber and plenty of water has helped me stay regular. As far as back pain, disc bulge, bone spurs and DDD, I can relate to your pain. My cervical spine is my main source of those problems but I am not a good canidate for fusion surgery at this time. What medicines if any are you on? I would try physical therapy and accupuncture if you haven't tried that yet. I have had epidurals, facet joint injections, and medial branch blocks. A pain management doctor usually will start with the most conservative treatments first and proceed from there. Pain killers such as opoids will only aggrevate your bowel problems since they are known to cause constipation.

I have no problems with anyone being on pain meds! I'm only given 1 Vicodin a day for my pain. I hope you are able to get relief.
