Mridian at UCLA

Has anyone recently undergone SBRT treatment on the Mridian MRI guided machine with Dr. Kishan at UCLA?

Datu, Kishan would have been my choice. At the time there was only an inoperable Mridian Viewray at UCLA. I don't know if UCLA has decided to use other MRI guided radiation treatments (which may be preferrable with Kishan as your RO) or if the Mridian Viewray has been restored. At that time the margin with the Viewray was 1 mm narrower. Back then there was a Viewray at City of Hope Irvine and another at Hoag in New Port Beach.
You are in a great position. Best luck with your treatment.

Regarding Viewray MRIdian. I don’t know if treatment centers are still using this technology since Viewray declared bankruptcy last year.

BrianJarvis: there are a number of MRIdian machines being used again. I was told by my RO, who treated me on the MRIdian in Florida, that maintenance and support contracts are being offered at $1 million/year by a new medical group who hired x number of people who supported it originally.

The technology was too valuable to let it disappear.

I went through the ViewRay machine at UCLA 18 months ago with Steinberg. I just had a follow up yesterday. It is currently fully operational and they have complete support for it. It has been taken over by the lead engineer and they now have more money than they ever had. So it is a great choice. I had a 3+4 was .32 PSMA pet scan was clean. It was pretty low-grade. I also tested stock low risk to radiation side effects. I really had no issues. No ADT was necessary because of my favorable diagnosis. Had sex four days after treatment , went back to work the day after treatment total of five treatments over 10 days only because of the weekend. After one month it was pretty much like nothing happened. It’s now 18 months and everything is great zero incontinence of any kind and no issues with ED at all, I’m 68 and 66 when diagnosed.
I don’t think you can find an easier treatment with less side effects. They’re also still telling me I have a 95% chance of cure with no side effects. My PSA started out at 6.0 it is now 1.1 my follow up MRI W/WO contrast is clean. The only thing I notice is, I can pee easier because my prostate almost shrink in half and there’s not much ejaculate.

MRIdian is fully restored and they have more cash than they ever did. UCLA are pioneers with that machine and are working with the design engineers. For a period they were installing markers just in case moving to CT was needed but now all is good and they are treating on it again. source…. Had my follow up yesterday with the Chair of RO, Michael Steinberg
