First Evenity shots: My positive experience

Posted by sandrac @sandrac, Mar 6, 2024

I began my Evenity treatment yesterday following a painful fracture earlier in the year and must admit I did it with trepidation after so many reviews that mentioned days of unpleasant side effects after each treatment. I have been on other drugs previously, going back 10 years (Actonel, Prolia, Reclast) and had only had a tough few days of side effects after Reclast, then was fine.

In case others are needing some encouraging news, I wanted to post that I was pleasantly surprised that I would never have known on day 2 that I had the shots. Both were in my right arm. They were less painful than Prolia (which was only a little stinging), my arm never turned red and only if I press on it can I locate the injection sites. Since it is a monoclonal antibody I took my antihistamine and 1000 mgs of Tylenol one hour before. I took Advil 5 hours later in anticipation of the joint aches that were highlighted in side effects, which never occurred. Whether those drugs took care of the side effects I may never know, but I am so relieved that the process was without issues for me. I guess the only was to know is to try it. Best to everyone else out there fighting this same battle!

Thanks a lot @kristie2 !

Today is a wonderful day hearing several members' huge gains after anabolic treatments. Both you and @neesie0159 had tremendous gains on evenity. What's more, you both were on HRT also. I wonder if this is telling us something...

I might have asked you before, but need to ask again if you could share - what dose of estradiol did you use and do you monitor/target its blood level? Will appreciate any info!

My BHRT is compounded, so I honestly am not sure the dose, it’s estrogen and testosterone. I also take compounded progesterone capsules. I was on this for a few years and didn’t seem to be absorbing the estrogen as my blood levels never came up, the doc who prescribed it moved away and no one else knew how to manage it. I moved to another state and started seeing a naturopathic doctor, who redid the compounded formula. I know it works now because he had to cut the dose due to me having uncomfortable side effects.
Just to add, checking my hormone levels was supposed to be part of the bloodwork my endocrinologist did last week.

@kristie2 i wiill certainly keep these info in mind, thank you!

@neesie0159 your endo is so nice to check hormone level for you. Please share your blood estradiol level if you could after your lab results are back. Did you have your bone markers tested during evenity therapy? Will your new endo monitor bone markers going forward?

Thank you both so much for sharing your great news and personal experiences!!!
