I assume you are talking about arthroscopic surgery to repair the meniscus. You can live with a torn meniscus as long as you can live with the pain and it doesn't cause problems such as locking up. I have had arthroscopic surgery to repair meniscus three times, two times on one knee and once on the other. I have had successful outcomes. There's a little pain for two or three days afterwards and you will need to take it easy. I was out walking between the 4th and 5th week and got along well. If it is bothering you that much I suggest that you go forward with the surgery as long as you trust the surgeon, probably orthopedist,
