So disheartened

It’s been a while since I past posted as things had improved with LDN and also becoming a patient of Dr. Brent Goodman at Mayo Phoenix. Of course it was too good to last. Dr. Goodman decided to leave Mayo and move states, Mayo Neurology declined to keep me as a patient, and now I am worsening or the LDN is becoming less effective. My pain is back in force and so far I have struck out finding a new doctor.

@nancyworld, consultative practice involves patient care. Take a condition like cancer. Patients come to Mayo Clinic for a second opinion, get an evaluation and a treatment plan. The patient has the option to continue the treatment plan at Mayo Clinic or to return to a facility closer to home. For example, some patients choose to have surgery at Mayo Clinic, but chemotherapy in the home state.

Thanks, @colleenyoung (Colleen), but I think we may have a disconnect in our communication here. Both @aaroncush and I are primary care patients at Mayo in Arizona. I've been going to the Clinic in Scottsdale for over 20 years.

I think he may be reporting that the neurology department in AZ is currently short-staffed, maybe since his neurologist left. I only see one neurologist currently listed at Mayo in AZ. Therefore they may be managing patients, including local patients, differently now than previously.

Well just to conclude this post, Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix has rejected me as a patient. I honestly give up.

@aaron_az
Did they give you a reason why?

@aaroncush, Sorry to hear you haven't been able to find follow up care. Have you thought about seeking help at one of the other Mayo Care Network members in Arizona?

We already had this discussion. Local is only ASU health services which is student only. Yuma and Kingman are nonstarters for distance and lack of skill, and Tucson Medical Center already said no.

I’m interested in your LDN becoming less effective. I’m on 4.5MG for a year & 1/2 but sometimes some pain breaks through. The numbness is always bad.
Some people move up to 6 or 6.5MG. I’m wondering if it will make a difference. ???

If I had a doctor that was an LDN advocate I would probably try. I had to convince my PCP to give me LDN and don't have the energy for another round of pushing. If you do give it a try and it helps, please let me know.
