Is there a block or ignore function on here?
We are getting people making fake posts about scatological things, genitalia and on. And also people just angry and hateful and trying to create arguments.
And I would like to block them, please.
I have real medical problems. I don't need people annoying or harassing me.
Please.

All members have the option of reporting to the Mayo Clinic Connect tech staff and others who monitor the content here.
If you find a post objectionable or you think it is fake or spam, please click on the 3 dots to the right of the post that concerns you. You will see a little flag with « Report « and then a box will pop up. Make your complaint here and the tech staff will read your report and respond.
I have done that many times before, on many message boards.
It does not work.
The trolls simply get a new fake identify, rejoin and start in again.
So, then I would have to fill out a report every single time they do this.
But, if there is a "block" button...I just click once and I am protected from being annoyed or harassed.
And I have gotten a festival of death threats from being online. So, I know some of these folks are just pranksters. Others are disturbed mentally ill people who are not really safe at all.
@samcal9977zz You will notice there is a small icon of three dots on the lower right of every post. One of the options is to be able to report the post. Click on "report" and fill out the box. Submit that and it will be seen by a moderator. Hope this helps!

respectively, there is no online environment that is safe.
And I had that confirmed by an aide to a US Senator.
I got that far with my complaints once.
We had a long conversation.
He told me that members of Congress either never go online or only to a tiny handful of websites.
In other words, they have surrendered government's duty to regulate the internet and are letting the companies do what they want.
Almost all message boards have a block function.
I strongly urge you to add one to the software.
The Senator's aide's advice to me was to just not go online. Literally. That is what he said.
I try to go online as little as possible.
But I am disabled, mostly homebound, very isolated...and even though this kind of interaction is very limited...it is basically the only human contact I get and is better than nothing.
And to be clear, online, I have gotten a festival of death threats. Endless. And some of the trolls who go on message boards like this, overseen by a professional organization...they find people here and then stalk them to another format, which is less supervised and give them threats there.
It is just exactly that bad.
All I want is a block feature. If you get one, please let me know.
I have high blood pressure, I don't need to be annoyed by some 15 year old pranksters.
@samcal9977zz Unfortunately, that seems to be the way of many platforms these days. Dang it all, right?! It takes diligence from all of us to report these people! Thank you for doing your part.
"Festival of death threats" gives me quite a picture! I hope these are not people coming to you via Mayo Clinic Connect?

Respectfully, @samcal9977zz Mayo Connect is not like other message boards. Conversations are carefully monitored by mentors and moderators to ensure that everyone follows our community guidelines. We want members to feel free to discuss their medical issues without judgment or criticism.
But sometimes we miss some conversations and if that’s the case we also rely on members to report the offensive replies as mentioned by @naturegirl5, @gingerw and @roch.
If you’ve been targeted by anything offensive, please report the reply. I assure you, reporting DOES work on this platform! We want you to feel safe. Did this happen today? Can you find the reply again that was offensive so we can report it for you?
@samcal9977zz, Mayo Clinic Connect is not like other message boards. We take making Connect a safe place for all members very seriously and have a set of guidelines as reminders for all members. That is why it is important to use the report function of Connect to let the moderators know when the guidelines are not being followed. See the Community Guidelines for more information - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/about-connect/tab/community-guidelines/.
While you cannot block a member, you can report a members post or comment. Also, if you are getting unwanted private messages you can go to your Profile settings and select Edit to the right of Private Messages and disable all private messages. Please help us keep Connect safe by reporting comments that are against the guidelines. Thank you for your help!
@samcal9977zz, when you see posts that go against the Community Guidelines, spam, harassment, etc. or anything that needs the attention of a Mayo Clinic Moderator, please report it. Here's how:
How to report:
1. Click the 3 dots (...) in the lower right corner of the comment.
2. Select "Report comment"
3. Write the reason for the report and SUBMIT.
If you would like to discuss further, contact me using this form https://connect.mayoclinic.org/contact-a-community-moderator/
(Sorry, Mayo Admin … this is not a Mayo topic, but I feel Mayo account holders also could be affected!)
I can relate to your frustration, @samcal9977zz! Unfortunately since AI launched hackers and spammers are having a field day! My Facbook account was hacked and then cloned - I can see the cloned account with all my information but with another account name so I know I have been cloned! As a result I don’t post anything on Facebook. Deleting my account will not help because my information has been stolen anyway. I have reported this to Facebook two or three times, they say they will look into it but the clone still exists! Blocking doesn’t help either - blocking just gets them out of your vision on your page, but they are still lurking in the background! I have changed my password but that is of no use because the clone has been created anyway.
Do you know that there is an option in one’s Facebook settings to “change your profile”? How convenient is thst for hackers!? I suspect all this has become. Ore prevalent since Facebook switched to “Meta” - whatever that is!
I am sorry for your situation. I have no answer except to continue to report.
Sad people feel the need to do this.
