Hi,
As one who is living with an excessively restrictive diet the only advice would be stick with what suits you best, trial and error. Read everything you can, stick with scientific fact and not anecdotal evidence, then do what you must.
I'm dealing with IBS, SIBO, T2, CKD and ANS which has caused slow digestion among other neuropathys. If I was to follow what is supposed to be best for me I wouldn't be eating as they all contradict one another for the diseases I have! What I do insist on is little or no man made or adulterated rubbish is injested. I stick with natural foods as much as possible so not 100% but very careful in what I pick off the shelf.
Has it helped, no, not at all, but I do feel better for it in myself. I'm playing mind games I suspect.
I'm essentially living on wholemeal bread with the smell of a slice of shaved ham and plastic butter twice a day with 6 cups of tea thrown in for good measure. Once a week I get a small portion of grilled chicken and a few fresh vegitables, no green leafy ones though. Throughout the week I may sample around 4 eggs if desired. If I'm running Hypo then I could throw in some Manuka honey to bring back up the glucoes level. I use Stevia as my sweetener and am slowly reducing that as well. I absolutely hate my diet but the consequences of straying from it are far worse than putting up with the diet. I try to be salt and sugar free and have found I'm best not eating at all. But that in itself has a concequence!
Despite my specialists, this is what suits me best and they conceed, if it works for me do it.
It is all about trying to be comfortable for me. Ultimately with no cure and no chance of medical intervention they pretty well leave me to do my own thing, as long as I keep them in the loop. I always document what changes I make and the results I get, so it is tracable and beats me trying to remember what I have done.
Cheers

wooooahhh plastic butter?? I hope you're kidding! if you have all those health issues, you must stay off anything hydrogenated, especially 'vegetable' / canola oil!! it is deadly. I'm serious. Sorry about giving clear advice, but I've been studying nutrition for almost 30 years and my partner is a gut expert. he would say the same. we're both gluten and dairy free. Noooo canola. ever. that means no fried food

No bread. nothing glutenous.
No ham. This is carcinogenic and not good for your health
are you havin milk in your tea?
that will not be helping your IBS. at all.
